Special Forces Vol. 1

(Stuart Taylor, USA, 2002)

Here is something that I would probably never have watched if I were not, once upon a time, a paid video reviewer: Special Forces Vol 1, the equivalent to those scary military magazines available in many newsagents.

Over briskly edited interviews and archival footage, a narrator explains to us how stout men bravely leave their families and their past lives behind to join the French Foreign Legion, where they acquire "a new virginity", "history and tradition", and the undying respect of their newfound fathers and brothers.

And that's only the first item of the first volume.
